Set up billing for your business
Where in the app: Company · Billing & pricing · Edit owner
Do this once, before your first Monday of charges. It takes about ten minutes. Everything here is under the side menu → Company.
-
Company tab → Business location. Type the town your business is in and press Save location. Bank feeds go by it (New Zealand banks only), and it sets the forecast on the home screen.
-
Company tab → Invoice details. Fill in your GST number and Bank account, then Save invoice details. Both are printed on every invoice, and the bank account is what your clients are told to pay into on their Account screen and in balance reminders. Leave a box empty to leave that line off. Payment terms (days) is when each invoice in the Xero file falls due (empty means 14), and Xero account code is the sales account those lines go on (empty means 200).

-
Billing & pricing tab → Bill clients through BarkBus. Leave it on to charge each owner every week for pack school and for each homestay, and to show them their balance, statement and invoices. Turn it off if you bill your clients some other way; charges already made are kept.

-
Billing & pricing → Homestay rates. Set your nightly prices. A homestay request shows an estimate from these, which you can change on the request.
-
Billing & pricing → Day rates. The price of a single day, for owners on a day rate.
-
Billing & pricing → Away weeks. What you still charge, as a percentage of the weekly fee, for a week a household's dogs attend nothing (their spot is still held), and separately for a missed pickup. A change applies from the next time charges are made; weeks already billed keep their rate.

-
Each owner's rate. Open the owner → Edit owner → the Billing tab. Choose a weekly or a day rate, type the price, and press Save.

Next: the guide "How charges happen" explains what BarkBus bills, and when.
