Matching rules: how a payer gets filed to the same owner automatically
Where in the app: Reconciliation · Remembered payers
There is no rule to write by hand. Every time a payment is accepted for an owner — by you, by a bulk accept, or by Autopilot — BarkBus remembers that payer (by their bank account number where the bank gives it, otherwise by the payer name as it appears on the statement) for that owner. The next deposit from them files itself.
See and manage them: Reconciliation → Remembered payers. Each rule shows the bank text → the owner (and their dogs), how often it has matched and when it was last used. Search by bank text, owner or dog. Forget stops it filing future deposits; payments already reconciled are untouched.
If two different owners have been accepted for the same payer NAME, BarkBus drops that rule rather than guess, so those deposits come to you to decide.
